Temporary Positions of Project Scientist-I, Research Associate-I, Junior Research
Fellow
National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) is an autonomous Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. NABI aims at catalysing the transformation of Agri-food sector in India by being a nodal organization for knowledge generation and translational science leading to value-added products based on Agri-Food biotech innovations for improved household nutritional security. Since its inception in 2010, NABI is involved in research activities for the Bio fortification, development of designer crops for improved nutrition, providing sustainable and novel solutions towards quality food and nutrition, and development of evidence based functional foods to counter malnutrition. Food and nutritional Biotechnology division at NABI requires following research personnel purely on temporary basis.
1. Project Scientist-I (One Position)
Project Title:
“Germplasm Characterization and trait discovery in wheat using Genomics Approaches and
its integration for improving Climate Resilience, Productivity and Nutritional Quality”
Principal Investigator

Co- Principal Investigator
Dr. Koushik Mazumder, Scientist E
Duration:-
The appointment will be till the termination of the project.
Essential Qualification: -
Doctoral Degree in Science or Master Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable: -
Experience in Mass Spectroscopy, Chromatography (GC/LC), Microscopy (SEM/TEM)
Emoluments: -
Project Scientist-I will be hired as per emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions notified
by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 21.08.2019) Rs 56000/ month + HRA)
Age Limit: -
The age limit of applicants will be 35 years. (Relaxation is admissible in case of
SC/ST/OBC/women/physically disabled as per government of India instructions).
2. Project Scientist-I (One Position)
Project Title:
“Germplasm Characterization and trait discovery in wheat using Genomics Approaches and

Experience in bio-informatics (Analyzing data at genome, Proteome, transcriptome, and metabalome levels.

by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 21.08.2019) Rs 56000/ month + HRA)
Age Limit: -

3. Research Associate I: (One Position):
Project Title: Molecular and biochemical characterization of nutritional enriched transgenic plants.
Principal Investigator:- Dr. Siddharth Tiwari, Scientist E.
Duration: The RA fellowship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of
2 years only, and in exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the fellowship may be extended to 4 years. Based on the candidate research experience and performance, the committee may recommend the upgradation of RA levels.
Essential Qualification: - PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree having three years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M Pharma/ ME/M Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desired Experience: -
1. Experience in plant tissue culture, Plant gentic engineering, Molecular and
Biochemical analyses of transgenic plants.
2. Practical knowledge of gene cloning and expression & purification of recombinant plant proteins.
3. Relevant research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Emoluments: - The RA will be hired as per emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions
notified by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30-01-2019) Rs 47000/ month + HRA)
Age-Limit: -
The age limit of applicants for RA will be 40 years. (Relaxation is admissible in case of
SC/ST/OBC/women/physically disabled as per government of India instructions).
* FOR RA-I Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis and are waiting for viva voce may also apply (For such candidates, fellowship amount will be that of an SRF until he/she submit completion of PhD certificate
4. Junior Research Fellow (One Position)
Project Title:
“Improvement of starch based processing and nutritional quality in wheat.
Principal Investigator

Duration:
The total duration will be five years from date of joining. Tenure of JRF will be initially for two years. Upgradation from JRF to SRF will be after completion of two years subject to progress report of two years submitted by the scholar.
Project Summary: -
The project activities are given below:
i) Development of different types of mapping population in wheat;
ii) Genotyping of wheat germplasm/mapping population/EMS mutant lines using molecular markers;
iii) Phenotyping of starch related and other agro-morphological traits on the wheat lines at multi-locations within India;
iv) Identification of markers or candidate genes associated with starch quality traits using
QTL mapping approach.
v) Conversion of candidate markers and genes into breeder’s markers for selection in
breeding program.
Essential Qualification: -
Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate /Post Graduate Degree in professional course selected through a process described through any one of the following: -
Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC-NET including
Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE
The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST,DBT,DAE,DOS,DRDO,MHRD,ICAR,ICMR,IIT,IISc,IISER etc.
Desirable: -
Proven experience in agricultural biotechnology and molecular biology, specially in molecular markers and QTL mapping studies; experience in basic informatics tools.
Fellowship: -
Junior Research Fellows will be hired as per emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (OM No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30.01.2019) Rs 31000/ month + HRA)
Age Limit: -
The age limit of applicants will be 28 years. (Relaxation is admissible in case of
SC/ST/OBC/women/physically disabled as per government of India instructions).
5. Project Title: "Development of aptamer based multiple biosensor pesticides
in real time”
Principle Investigator: Dr. Nitin Kumar Singhal, Scientist E
Positions: Junior Research Fellow (01)
Duration: The appointment will be initially for two years as JRF or till the termination of the project whichever is earlier. Further upgradation from JRF to SRF will be on the basis of submission of progress report and further assessment.

Post graduate degree in Basic Science Or Graduate/Post Graduate in professional course selected through a process described through any one of the following
a) Scholars are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR UGC NET including
Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT,DAE,DOS,DRDO,MHRD,ICAR,ICMR,IIT,IISc,IISER etc.
Emoluments and eligibility as per DST OM SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30th January, 2019.
Desirable Experience: - Experience in aptamer and synthesis work.

Emoluments: Rs. 31000/- per month Plus HRA as per project.
6. Project Title: “In vestig atin g the role and regu latory asp ect of in trin sically disordered region(s) in DOF-transcription factors with emphasis to rice grain quality
Principle Investigator: Dr. Prafull Salvi
Positions: Junior Research Fellow (01)
Duration: The appointment will be initially for two years as JRF or till the termination of the project whichever is earlier. Further upgradation from JRF to SRF will be on the basis of submission of progress report and further assessment.
Essential Qualification:-
Post graduate degree in Basic Science Or Graduate/Post Graduate in professional course selected through a process described through any one of the following
a) Scholars are selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR UGC NET including
Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT,DAE,DOS,DRDO,MHRD,ICAR,ICMR,IIT,IISc,IISER etc.
Emoluments and eligibility as per DST OM SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30th January, 2019.
Responsibilities: - Recruited JRF will work on the yeast system for protein-protein and DNA-protein interaction study, development of rice transgenics plants and study the gene regulatory network associated with grain quality and (a)biotic stress response in rice.
Age: 28 years (Relaxation is admissible in case of SC/ST/OBC/PD and women candidates as per GOI instructions)
Emoluments: Rs. 31000/- per month Plus HRA as per project.

5. Candidates applying for more than one position can give their preference in the same application by ticking multiple positions. No need to submit separate application form for each position.
6. Kindly do not send any documents with application form. Candidates will be provisionally shortlisted on the basis of information given in the application form. All the documents related to eligibility i.e. Age, educational qualification, Experience etc (in-original) will be verified at later stage before issuing offer/award letter.
7. No application form will be accepted after due date i.e. 22.01.2022.
8. Eligible candidates will be informed via email for interview schedule.
